Just something I’m wondering about regarding the decor and learning environment – what’s the teacher’s role in the classroom?

For many years the teachers has been standing by the blackboard and teaching the students based on re-learning – by communicating what he or she knows. But today we know that this way isn’t the most effective – in fact student learn more by experiencing and making mistakes is a very good learning. This is also referred to as ‘learning by doing’ (by John Dewey)

So if we today teach our children according to principles that experienced learning is a better way for students to gain knowledge and develop competences that they need in order to become a global and local citizens of tomorrow – what is then the role of the teacher – and furthermore – where should he or she be in the learning environment?
